CALL FOR PAPERS

Description of conference: The 2010 Annual Meeting of the Law Enforcement Organization of Research and Planning Directors (LEOPRD) will be held Wednesday April 14, 2010 in Philadelphia, PA. The meeting provides an opportunity for the presentation of papers from within the law enforcement research and planning community. We invite you to submit an abstract describing a presentation for the 4th Annual LEOPRD Conference.   The selected submissions will be invited to present at the 2010 annual meeting. The paper should be relevant to the training, methodology, standards or the processes we rely on everyday to complete our duties as Research and Planning Directors. By contributing to LEOPRD, you will be in a position to share your experience, knowledge and enthusiasm with your peers, while earning the professional development experience that comes from this organization.

Possible submission themes include:

  • Model approaches: Presentations in this slot will describe the main elements of a particular model strategy, technique, training, policy or approach used by a planning/research director from a law enforcement agency that were effective at advancing the practice of planning and/or research at a law enforcement agency.
  • Research paper:  Presentations in this slot will discuss findings from recent research that are relevant for planning and research directors in law enforcement.
  • Current events discussion panel: These are challenging times for many in the law enforcement community. We encourage submissions that reflect on daily issues that stem from state and local events and issues that pertain to funding, grants, budget allocations as well as other developments (RMS, CAD, Intelligence Lead Policing, etc.)
  • Where are we going: Articles in this section can highlight where our profession is moving. Job opportunity trends, resources, policy, certification and standardization.
  • Other relevant topics of your choice.
